For the first time ever, the Detroit Tigers are offering their classic car loving fans the chance to showcase their historic vehicles at Comerica Park. This season, in the automobile rich traditions of Southeastern Michigan, fans can participate in The Detroit Tigers Classic Car Show, presented by MotorCity Casino Hotel and Total Lubricants, on Saturday, July 30, 2011, featuring a variety of classes and a panel of celebrity judges. Interested car owners are asked to participate in a nomination process located online at tigers.com/carshow. All vehicles must be of show quality, and be manufactured any year prior to 1990. If selected, a registration fee of $115 will apply, which includes car show space, two tickets to the Tigers vs. Angels game, two food vouchers for use within Comerica Park, two Classic Car Show T-Shirts, and Classic Car Show poster. 100 nominated classic cars will be selected for participation in the Car Show, which will be open to the public from 12:00 – 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 30. Cars will be judged within six different categories, which will be Best pre-1960, Best 1961 – 1970, Best 1971 – 1989, Best Custom Paint Job, Best Sports Car, and Best Overall. Nomination will continue until Friday, June 10, at which time the 100 best nominated vehicles will be selected and owners notified of their selection for display at the Classic Car Show. Several very special show vehicles will be on display courtesy of the Detroit Tigers, MotorCity Casino Hotel, and the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s.
